What We Value Most
Relationships
Love all... worship one! As we follow God's examples of relationships between others and Himself it is encouraging to learn how to relate to people in our own lives. When
questioned on what the most important commandment was, Jesus says in Mark 12:29-31 - "...The most important is, Hear, O Israel: The Lord our God, the Lord is one. And you shall love the
Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength. The second is this; You shall love your neighbor as yourself. There is no other
commandment greater than these."
- Love God: Loving God means surrending our selfish plans to His purposeful plans. This is an ongoing choice as with any love relationship. It is
pursuing His ways above our own and doing so with everything that we possess.
- Love Others: The best way to sum up love towards people biblically, is to understand it as John did, “We love because He first loved us” (1 John 4:19). John
also intricately connects this love of people to obedience of God’s commands (5:2). Therefore, it seems that love of others is rooted in the understanding of our love for God. Since we
are created in His image and in His likeness we are to love others in the same way He loves all people. This love strengthens relationships through acceptance, encouragement, truth and
comittment.
